About Julian
Julian has worked closely with Colin over the years both at Freeman Jones Solicitor and at Colin’s former practice.
Julian provides advice in our commercial/non-contentious department.
Julian was admitted as a solicitor in 1997 and his areas of interest and expertise lie in:
- company law including setting up businesses, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, MBO/MBI’s, and business succession planning;
- commercial law including drafting complex commercial contracts, finding solutions to technical legal and commercial issues and providing advice in a clear and approachable manner;
- tax planning business owner’s estates to ensure maximum tax mitigation with suitable family succession.
Julian has also been a lecturer and examiner for the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners teaching in the UK and off shore jurisdictions on tax and trust matters. He has also sat on three technical tax committees at the Law Society and writes for LexisNexis Butterworths/Tolleys, is a contributor to Atkins Court Forms and consultant editor for Halsbury’s Laws of England.
Julian has diverse business interests and has invested in a broad range of companies including helicopter brokerage, professional photography equipment sales, tenant referencing, cladding systems and heating installations for commercial/retail fit outs.
Julian has also been a director of a specialist tax consultancy company dealing with property taxation.
Julian enjoys collecting late 20th century modern art, can be found on the motorsports circuits of the UK in his jointly owned 500 BHP turbo charged Honda and in Norway during the winter months ice climbing.
